Occupy99 Phase 2? The Issue is Power

There is a MoT diary up in which he lists a long laundry list of "issues", all valid in and of themselves, but this individual issue and that individual issue all add up to being right back where we were before all this started.  If the experiences of the past two months tell us anything, it is that what it's really time for is independent self-organization for POWER.  our power, people's power, by We the People, we the 99%.  And it's time to have the will to place our power squarely in opposition to the powers that have led us down this path, whatever they may call themselves, however they may try to delude us with mealy-mouthed platitudes and slogans.  It's time to stop justifying the power over us, and the use of our own power against us in the name of some delusional "pragmatism", of a "compromise" that is unfailingly a capitulation. It's time to stop taking their shit, rolling over and dying, time to stop taking a moldy stale crust and nodding like puppydogs when the Dems call it "half a loaf" because it isn't and it never was.  Most of all, it's time to stop lying to ourselves and start admitting, acknowledging and start acting on the knowledge that if we don't stand up for ourselves there is no fucking reason on god's green earth that anyone else will do so for us.

It's time to extend the "assembly" process out of the occupations and into the neighborhoods, the small towns, the schools and campuses and workplaces.  It's time to move the occupations out of the public parks and into the abandoned factories, the shuttered schools, boarded up storefronts, and the foreclosed homes.  It's time to not only shake the system, but to do so for so long, so widely, so ubiquitously and so relentlessly that our smug overlords stop trying to force us to submit and begin to submit to us.  Then and only then can justice prevail.  And that begins by building our own power, each of us, by finding each other and instead of pulling each other back into the boiling pot, but by joining together to lift each other out of it.
